Volunteering for Home for Dinner

Preparing a meal can be a stressful task after spending a long and potentially emotional day at the hospital. Thanks to our generous volunteers, the House can reduce this stress for families. Through Home for Dinner, a group of volunteers purchases groceries and provides dinner for families staying at the House. Duties include planning, cooking, cleaning up, and packaging any leftovers.

If your group is interested in volunteering with the Home for Dinner program, we ask that one group member create an account and submit an application through our VolunteerHub portal using the following link for your respective House.

What to Expect

Once your application has been processed, we will contact you to schedule a date for your Home for Dinner orientation. This session will provide you with all the expectations and group responsibilities when it comes to preparing a meal for our families. Orientations take place throughout the year, are approximately 45 minutes, and we encourage you to bring one more member from your group along. Please note that all orientations will take place in-person at your local Ronald McDonald House.

Without volunteers like you, we would not be able to provide a comfortable, home-like atmosphere for our families. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with RMHC Alberta.
