End of Year Message from our CEO

RMHC Alberta CEO Jason Evanson with a look back on 2020 and best wishes for a new and challenging year ahead.

As you can imagine, keeping families and stakeholders safe this year has been our top priority. And what a year 2020 has been. It’s been difficult for us at Ronald McDonald House Charities, but tremendously challenging for the families that cross our thresholds every single day; families with children being treated at a nearby hospital.

Thank you for the many ways you have helped. We would have really struggled were it not for you. We’re particularly proud of the Hero from Home campaign and related community response. We generated over a quarter of a million dollars to support our families – and we reached out to hundreds of others who were unable to get into the Ronald McDonald House, and gave them the gift of a hotel stay, gift cards for meals, fuel or groceries. And I’m very proud of the fact that our Houses never missed on delivering a meal to our families.

McDonald’s, our founding & forever partner, has been by our side since the beginning of the pandemic. Whether it was the corporation, Owner/Operators, or crew, they all rallied in so many ways. Whether it’s the fundraising they do in the restaurants, participating in events, providing sponsorship, or delivering the Fries for Good program, it’s all been tremendously valuable.

And thank you to our volunteers, for weathering the ups and downs of our pandemic response. It takes a lot of hands to keep the wheels turning at Ronald McDonald House and our volunteers are so critically important to ensuring that we’re looking after families day in and day out.

Keeping families close. That’s what we do at RMHC Alberta, and it doesn’t happen without you. Thank you for everything that you’ve done. And no matter the challenges that we face in 2021, we will overcome them together.
