Nine-year-old Haylen Astalos from Grande Prairie is an inspiration. Since his fifth birthday he has raised over $30,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Alberta.

Haylen began by donating his birthday money. His Mom gave him a choice of charities, and the rest is history. Ever since, he has raised money for the House by selling ice cream treats at local events and at the bottom of his driveway.

McDonald’s Canada recently brought Haylen to Calgary for a big surprise! He got a chance to hand out ice cream from the McFlurry Truck. Haylen handed out McFlurries in exchange for donations to RMHC Alberta. The day was super successful: the donations were matched by McDonald’s Canada, and Haylen raised $1,423.20!

The families staying at the Calgary House were lucky enough to receive McFlurries as an after-dinner treat when Haylen stopped by with the truck!

Haylen’s current fundraising goal is set at $12,023, a combination of the jersey numbers of former Calgary Flames player Jarome Iginla and current Calgary Flames player Sean Monahan. We can’t thank Haylen enough for his support. On behalf of our families, we are forever grateful. If you would like to find out more about what Haylen’s up to, you can follow him on Facebook.
