Across Western Canada, Save-On-Foods is known for going above and beyond to serve high-quality products to local communities. The supermarket chain has donated more than $30 million to children’s charities and contributes $3 million in donations to food banks across Western Canada each year.

Save-On-Foods’ impact is tangible in the truest sense of the word. They generously support RMHC Alberta through grocery and monetary donations that sustain and strengthen the thousands of families who walk through our doors each year.

“At Save-On-Foods, we’re actively involved in every community we serve,” says Rane Marshall, Store Manager of the Strathcona location in Edmonton. “It’s great to form meaningful connections. Each store has the autonomy to support local initiatives that are meaningful to their direct community.”

For Marshall’s store, this support looks like donating products year-round for RMHC Alberta events, raising tens of thousands of dollars for our mission through their Light the House holiday fundraiser, and bringing volunteer groups to the House every month to make meals for families.

Marshall’s team generously supports RMHC Alberta’s Home for Dinner initiative, having donated many resources—sometimes at a moment’s notice—to ensure families can have a homemade meal at the end of a long day. Marshall describes volunteering at the House as an opportunity to serve families while building positive community connections.

“All the volunteers at the Edmonton House have a fantastic sense of spirit and attitude,” Marshall says. “When we come to the House to cook meals, everyone is very enthusiastic about lending a helping hand. We look forward to continuing to strengthen the relationship with the House in Edmonton and across Alberta.”

While supporting local communities and programs is part of the DNA of Save-On-Foods, the staff at Marshall’s store have a special connection to RMHC Alberta’s mission.

“We have a team member at our Save-On-Foods Strathcona location who stayed at the Ronald McDonald House just a couple blocks from our store,” Marshall says. “She was inspired by our dedication to helping families staying at the House, and in 2017 she joined our team after her daughter’s lifesaving heart transplant. This team member is still with us today and plays a massive role in the monthly Home for Dinner meals we prepare at the Edmonton House.”

RMHC Alberta is so grateful to Save-On-Foods for their ongoing support of our mission and for their commitment to giving back.
